New Home Sales Plunged 13.4%, Previous Months Revised Down

July 2013 New Residential Single Family Home Sales plunged -13.4% to 394,000 in annualized sales and April through June were significantly revised lower.  New Single Family Housing inventory is now a 5.2 month supply.  New single family home sales are now 6.8% above July 2012 levels, but this figure is well within the ±18.6% margin of error.

New Home Sales Increase 8.3% for June 2013

June New Residential Single Family Home Sales increased 8.3% to 497,000 in annualized sales.  This change is well within the statistical error margin of ±20.5%.   New Single Family Housing inventory is at a 3.9 month supply low.  New single family home sales are now 38.1% above June 2012 levels, but this figure has a ±22.0% margin of error.

New Home Sales Increase 2.3%, Prices Skyrocket for April 2013

April New Residential Single Family Home Sales increased 2.3% to 454,000 in annualized sales.   New Single Family Housing inventory is at a 4.1 month supply.  New single family home sales are now 29.0% above April 2012 levels, but this figure has a ±20.7% margin of error.   A year ago new home annualized sales were 352,000.

New Home Sales Increase 1.5% for March 2013

March New Residential Single Family Home Sales increased 1.5%, or 417,000 annualized sales.   New Single Family Housing inventory is at a 4.4 month supply.  New single family home sales are now 18.5% above March 2012 levels, but this figure has a ±17.2% margin of error.   A year ago new home sales were 352,000.

New Home Sales Decline by -7.3% for December 2012

December New Residential Single Family Home Sales decreased by -7.3%, or 369,000 annualized sales. The decline wipes out November's revised 9.3% increase. As we've repeatedly cautioned, beware of this report for most months the change in sales is inside the statistical margin of error and will be revised.

New Home Sales Increase 5.7% for September 2012

September New Residential Single Family Home Sales increased 5.7%, or 389,000 annualized sales. June through August were all revised. August's single family new home sales were revised from 373 thousand to 368 thousand homes sold, which is a -1.3% decline instead of the -0.3% originally reported. June is now a -2.4% drop from May, or 360,000 homes and July now shows a 3.6% increase to 373,000.

New Home Sales Decline -0.3%, Prices Pop for August 2012

August New Residential Single Family Home Sales declined by -0.3%, or 373,000 annualized sales. July's single family new home sales were not revised from their 3.6% increase. The August monthly percentage change has a ±9.3% error margin and this is why we see large revisions to new home sales figures. In other words, don't get too attached to the monthly percentage changes for odds are they will be revised.

New Home Sales Increase 3.6% for July 2012, June Significantly Revised to -3.5%

July New Residential Single Family Home Sales increased by 3.6%, or 372,000 annualized sales. June's single family new home sales were significantly revised up, from -8.4% to -3.6%. The July monthly percentage change has a ±14.1% error margin and this is why we see large revisions to this report constantly.
