People Would Could Only Get Part-Time Jobs Decreased -4.38% in December 2011

December's unemployment report had a little indicator of better news. A recession indicator, those forced into part-time hours due to slack economic conditions just plummeted. Overall, people being forced into part-time jobs declined by 371,000 in a month, to a tally of 8,098,000 people.

Unemployment 8.5% for December 2011 - 200,000 Jobs

The December 2011 monthly unemployment figures show the official unemployment rate dropped -0.2 percentage points to 8.5% and the total jobs gained were 200,000. Total private jobs came in at 212,000. Government jobs dropped -12,000. Temporary jobs also dropped -7,500. All other major job categories had payroll gains. Manufacturing gained a much needed 23,000 jobs.

 

ADP Employment Report - 325,000 Private Sector Jobs for December 2011

ADP, released their proprietary private payrolls jobs report and it's a blow out. This month ADP is reporting a gain of 325,000 private sector jobs in December. November 2011 was revised down from 206,000 to 204,000. Below are the reported private sector jobs from ADP. This report does not include government, or public jobs.

 

ADP Employment Report - 206,000 Private Sector Jobs for November 2011

ADP, released their proprietary private payrolls jobs report. This month ADP is reporting a gain of 206,000 private sector jobs in November. October 2011 was revised up from 110,000 to 130,000. In October, the BLS reported 104,000 private sector jobs. Below are the reported private sector jobs from ADP.

ADP, released their proprietary private payrolls jobs report. This month ADP is reporting a gain of 110,000 private sector jobs in October. September 2011 was revised up from 91,000 to 116,000. In September, the BLS reported 137,000 private sector jobs, or 82,000 if one removes returning striking Verizon workers.

State Employment for September 2011 - Payrolls Declined in 25 States

The State Unemployment statistics for September 2011 were released. These 10 states, plus the D.C. area, in order, have unemployment rates at or above 10%: Nevada, 13.4%, California, 11.9%, Michigan 11.1%, South Carolina, 11.0%, District of Columbia, 11.1%, Florida, 10.6%, Mississippi, 10.6%, Rhode Island, 10.5%, North Carolina, 10.5%, Georgia 10.3%, Illinois, 10.0%.

Unemployment 9.1% for September 2011 - 103,000 Jobs

The September 2011 monthly unemployment figures show the official unemployment rate remained at 9.1% and the total jobs gained were 103,000. 45,000 of those jobs are not new jobs, but Verizon workers who returned back to work after being on strike. Total private jobs came in at 137,000. If one subtracts off the returning strikers, September showed 82,000 new private sector jobs. Government jobs dropped -34,000.
