Chrysler fires Union, keep H-1b guest workers

UAW Fights Chrysler

Union leaders are also upset that Chrysler is employing foreign workers in Auburn Hills who were let into the country under immigration rules that allow companies to hire skilled foreigners for jobs that can't be filled with local workers.
"The only reason they're supposed to be here is to do work we can't perform," Hagler said.
Rich Harter, Local 412's second vice president and Unit 1 chairman, said he has begun the process of lodging a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board.
He said more than 150 contractors are costing the company an estimated $150,000 each annually and there are 30 to 100 so-called H1B workers.
"This isn't right. We've got American workers getting laid off but they're keeping foreigners," he said. He argues it would be cheaper for the company to use UAW members.
Hagler and Harter plan to try to get contract workers replaced by UAW members. Neither man would say if they planned to strike but Hagler told laid-off members they would get back to work "or else we're all going to go down."

Guest workers stay - Union people leave

Nardelli - Chryslers new CEO was formerly with Home Depot where he had issues. He left with a 210 million dollar severance package. Nardelli originally came from GE which is well known for it's "Indian Initiatives" and offshoring work. Not to mention their plans to close US plants in order to offshore that work to China.

Why should this move suprise anyone - its typical and destructive to the US economy. Whos' going to buy their cars if these global corporations keep dumbing down US salaries with their foreign guest workers.

Its time - in this election year to elect ONLY candidates who will address the hemorrage of US jobs going away and who will have the courage to stand up to these businesses which use cheap foreign labor.

CEOs, incentives

This country is so messed up. They reward executives for incompetence, give outrageous bonuses if they are fired for incompetence and then they are just rehired somewhere else.

It's the only job I can think of where if you're an idiot, you're guaranteed to become super rich.

Then, we have a tax code that gives economic incentive to offshore outsource jobs and capital.

Here's the UAW, being obviously attacked to bust them, and where is the outrage of the American people on any of this.

Nice background research.

Let's make this round different

I think we have much better odds of fanning public outrage this time around, as opposed to 2001. The job generating engine of America is stalling out, the mass layoffs have begun, and everyone is scared. Most people didn't know or care the first time around. What are they using H-1Bs for anywat?

Calling Chrysler workers

Please encourage the Chrysler workers who were laid off while a foreign H-1b workers retained jobs that the Americans were qualified for to post their stories here, so that media can find and contact them:

You can see the post of other impacted Americans here:

Industry is lobbying for MORE H-1b workers. This site finally give the media a means to tell our side of the story.

I think there's nothing

I think there's nothing wrong with it... they need the workers (as what have said, "to do the work we can't perform")..
why laid off workers?
