Friday Movie Night - China Currency Manipulation & Make Markets Be Markets

hot buttered popcorn It's Friday Night! Party Time!   Time to relax, put your feet up on the couch, lay back, and watch some detailed videos on economic policy!

The good news is more and more people are recording lectures, forums and talks and putting them online. There were two major conferences where some of the clips are online that I believe EP readers will want to watch.

Here are some talks from the Make Markets Be Markets conference. All of the videos are here.

Simon Johnson on the Doom Cycle

Michael Greenberger on Over-the-Counter Derivatives

The second is an event put on by EPI on China Currency Manipulation. The entire event video is online here. The first clip below is United Steel Workers President Leo Gerard discussing the importance of confronting China and next is Paul Krugman, the clips so far. EPI is notorious to not use video, but claims they will have them this time. I waited all day for those clips so consider the below substitutes. EPI man, sigh. This is a critically important issue and frankly there isn't enough money behind it to buy off our Congress to act.

You must watch Clyde Prestowitz on what he says about our Congress, a classic.

You might also be interested in watching a hearing by the U.S. China Economic and Security Commission, videos here, on U.S. Debt to China, Implications and Repercussions. The links are to both C-Span and the hearing transcripts so you can browse around. You might be interested in Simon Johnson's testimony.
