Bad Ideas, Bad Management are Rewarded with Taxpayer Money

Trillions. Literally trillions of taxpayer money is now pouring to financial institutions. Today the Federal Reserve added $800 Billion more. The United States has now pledged $8.5 Trillion dollars to the financial crisis. To put that in perspective, one could have paid off, in their entirety, every house being foreclosed on for $320 billion dollars, the supposed root cause of the financial crisis. The entire home mortgages liabilities in the United States are $10.6 Trillion dollars

So, why is the United States pledging money worth 60% of the entire United States GDP?

Friday Movie Night - Roger & Me

It's Friday Night! Party Time!   Time to relax, put your feet up on the couch, lay back, and watch some detailed videos on economic policy!

Roger & Me

GM, along with Ford and Chrysler are now asking for $25 Billion dollars. We are hearing devastating reports of 3 million jobs lost, 4% decline in US GDP, in other words a tail spin cocktail for a bad economy, if GM or the US automakers were allowed to go into Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

With the Auto Bail Out theme, I thought it appropriate to show Michael Moore's famous documentary Roger & Me.

Google video has the entire documentary online to watch. (click the link). Note, you can watch this full screen.

If you have not seen this it's a treat and if you have, notice some of the same similarities. Pets or Meat!

Friday Movie Night - The Great Crash of 1929 plus 1930's FDR

It's Friday Night! Party Time!   Time to relax, put your feet up on the couch, lay back, and watch some detailed videos on economic policy!

Tonight's theme is looking at some footage from the 1930's. Whenever there is economic turmoil I personally like to go back to the mother of all economic crises, The Great Depression.

The first film is an hour long documentary which has exceptional analysis, interviews and original film clips from 1929.

We're Going to Stop Offshore Outsourcing, Really, Swear!

There has been enormous campaign rhetoric on tax incentives to offshore outsource American jobs. But can corporate tax policy alone really do much?

Firstly, what are Politicians even talking about? When corporations keep profits in a foreign country, they don't pay taxes on that money in the United States. A reasonable explanation:

Friday Movie Night - An Unreasonable Man

It's Friday Night! Party Time!   Time to relax, put your feet up on the couch, lay back, and watch some detailed videos on economic policy!

The 2008 elections are upon us and as usual, 3rd party candidates get a pure media blackout. With the obvious corporate agenda infused in both major political parties, tonight's video is An Unreasonable Man, a exceptionally well done documentary on Ralph Nader. Regardless of whether you agree with his positions or blame him, hate him, Nader has been a tireless advocate for the citizens of the United States.
